One of the best things about the Chicago theater community is its diversity. Soon you will be able to sample four of Chicago's finest examples of that quality for less than $100.

A new subscription series, Looks Like Chicago, will be available this spring. For only $98, subscribers will receive tickets to a production by Silk Road Theatre Project (which showcases Asian, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean playwrights), Congo Square Theatre Company (African and African-American emphasis), Teatro Vista…Theatre with a View (celebrates Latino culture) and Remy Bumppo Theatre Company (European and American focus).

The concept was formulated by Silk Road Theatre Project's Artistic Director Jamil Khoury and Executive Director Malik Gillani . It was enthusiastically embraced by the other companies. "Everyone saw the value of working together and creating a more inclusive, representative theater," Khoury says. "A big objective is to get everyone to start hearing each other's stories and seeing those commonalities. If it turns people on to a completely new aesthetic or a completely new voice that can only be a good thing."

Subscriptions will be sold through the League of Chicago Theatres' Hot Tix locations and online at www.chicagoplays.com. For details, call (312) 857-1234 .
